About the Authors: Most of the articles on this website were written on a volunteer basis by E.A. Zimmerman, and her colleagues on the Woodstock Conservation Commission. In terms of education and work experience, Zimmerman has a B.S. from UCONN, and an M.S. from Yale in Environmental Management. She spent her career in public service. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in South America, is a Certified Environmental Professional, and has worked in environmental protection since 1980 with government and a non-profit research and development organization. She is also a RABQSA registered ISO 14001 Lead environmental management system auditor.
Zimmerman volunteers for a number of non-profit organizations, including the local Conservation Commission, Eastern Connecticut Forest Landowners Association, Woodstock Historical Society, North American Bluebird Society, and manages the Bluebird_Listserv archives for Cornell's Birdhouse Network. She also maintains a large educational website about bluebirds and other small cavity nester conservation.
Zimmerman's articles have been published in various publications, including Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Bluebird (The North American Bluebird Society journal), Birds & Blooms, Birdwatcher's Digest, The Hartford Courant, the Putnam Town Crier, Our Town, and non-profit organization newsletters. She has a weekly educational column in The Villager newspapers, which cover Danielson, Eastford, Killingly, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson and Woodstock, CT.
Her photos have featured in The Villager newspapers, The Hartford Courant, Bluebird, a NY DEC publication, Cat Fancy, Birdwatcher's Digest, Country magazine, local calendars, in a CDC publication, and on a National Park Service brochure.
